Starting Your Professional Career

Posted on Monday, Apr 15, 2019

“Bolting the wings on while the plane takes off” is an understatement when diving into the professional world. You think you are prepared until you actually get there, and it hits you all at once. You find yourself trying to tackle multiple responsibilities that your training did not quite prepare you for. There is no one way to succeed in fast paced work environments. All you can do is learn as you go. Being observant will help you realize the social norms in your office. Also, do not be afraid to ask questions. If you do not know how to do something or where something is, it is okay to ask. Finally, it’s ok to make mistakes as long as you learn and grow from them. Yes, the first days, weeks, or months may be pretty crazy, but you will get through and become a stellar employee. Just remember to keep moving forward and take in all that you can.
