Learning How to Adapt to a New Season in Your Life Post Graduation

Posted on Monday, Feb 13, 2017

It has been a little over a month since I have graduated, and it still feels surreal. I still feel as if I still should be turning in assignments on E-campus. Every day I go to work, which still feels funny to say. I am still in awe to be in this position of my life. I am truly enjoying this new season of my life every day, one day at a time. I use the word “season” to represent that situations in life are not forever, but that they simply last for a small period of time. I am learning that I can only do one task at a time. While that sounds cliché, it is easier said than done. Sometimes, we get so caught up in our daily activities and focusing on the future that we forget to appreciate what is at hand. We forget to appreciate the small things that we have learned that day from our bosses to our fellow co-workers.

As I learn how to do certain tasks in my hosting office, I learn more about myself in a professional setting. I have learned to appreciate each small opportunity and morsel of knowledge given to me. I feel that if you don’t enjoy or appreciate the moment you are in, you will miss out on the beauty of the current season in your life. You will become so focused on other distractions that you forget to appreciate opportunities. I say this because I used to get so caught up in worrying about the future forgetting to enjoy the present. By appreciating the present, it helps eases the anxiety and worries of post-graduation. It also helps you transition smoothly into your new season in life. I am truly appreciative of this season of my life.
