Finding Humor in Phone Calls

Posted on Wednesday, May 24, 2017

One of the best and worst parts about my job is answering the phone. Every week I talk to hundreds of people from across Texas and the U.S. about their political opinions. To a lot of people, this would be the worst job ever. But sometimes, you get calls that are so funny you write them down and document them in a blog. So if you ever wondered what other voting Texans had to say, this is for you.

"Hello, I called to discuss Betsy Devos."
"This is actually your State Senator's office, You should direct your call to your U.S. Senator or Representative."
"Okay, can you tell me how to spell senator?"

"What does 'gov' stand for?"

"Did you say your name was Taryn or Karen?"
"Taryn. T-A-R-Y-N"
"Okay Karen."

"There is a bear in the capital building"
"Excuse me what!?"
"A bear is literally coming towards your office right now. Don't worry he's nice. His name is Smokey."

"Good morning Karen."

As a result of this job, I should officially change my name to Karen.
