7 Reasons to Intern for a Nonprofit

Posted on Tuesday, Jul 16, 2019

Have you ever wondered how you can pursue public service and not directly be in politics? I have a true passion for nonprofit work as well as health policy, but knew I did not want to be on capitol hill. Here are 7 reasons you might want to pursue a nonprofit internship in DC.

  1. You can find a nonprofit in DC that focuses on your area of interest – there are thousands of organizations covering any interest!
  2. You will be the go to researcher for all of their policy needs.
  3. You will never have to answer the phones!
  4. Everyone in the office is just as passionate as you about the cause and mission of the organization.
  5. You can wear business casual clothes every day.
  6. Ask to work on your specific wants
  7. You will attend all the fun and informative events they need – many are at Capitol Hill so you can still see all of the beautiful buildings!

What’s your dream internship?
