Grant Maclaurin poses in Washington, D.C. in Spring 2023

Thinking about how to get out of your apartment for some fresh air? Northern Virginia and Washington D.C. have incredible views and plenty of options for indoor and outdoor activities. If you're like me and are unsure exactly where you want to go, it may feel daunting not knowing where to start. Luckily, I found the perfect activity that combines outdoor activities, interesting sites, and plenty of variation. If this sounds like something you'd enjoy, look no further than the entrance to the Mount Vernon Trail, a five minute walk from Crystal City Plaza Apartments.

The Mount Vernon Trail is an 18-mile trail along the Potomac River from Theodore Roosevelt Island to George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate in Virginia. It's a popular spot for walkers, runners, and cyclists alike. The Trail is paved and relatively flat, making it an easy and enjoyable ride for those of all skill levels. Along the way, you'll see stunning views of the river, pass through quaint neighborhoods, and even see some historic sites. Whether you want to go on a run, walk, or bike ride, the Trail is for you!

Taking in the scenery is a great way to end a day of work! I hope you give it a try!
